Assets of Community Value (ACVs)

Through the Localism Act 2011, the Government introduced new powers for communities in England to nominate valued facilities such as pubs as ‘assets of community value’. Where pubs are listed this enables communities to ‘stop the clock’ for up to six months if they’re put up for sale to consider options for saving the pub.

Pubs listed as ACVs are automatically protected in planning law - meaning whoever registered the ACV will always be consulted before it can be demolished or converted into another use. More information on listing your local for an ACV can be found at https://camra.org.uk/pubs/campaigns/assets-of-community-value/
